Duke Of York97 Marlborough Road, Hightown
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Impressive red brick Joseph Holt pub. Magnificent pile; a memorial to late Victorian brewers' self confidence. Opening in 1899 this building has all the hallmarks of a truly great Holt's establishment. Multi-roomed with a central drinking area incorporating a large horseshoe bar and exquisite etched glass panels. A true sense of community makes this a most welcoming pub. A much cherished survivor in an area decimated by pub closures in the Hightown clearances of the early seventies. Traditional in every sense of the word.
